Although equipped with various protections such as lightning arresters, differential, and grounding, the accident rate is still high due to the complex internal structure, uneven electric and thermal fields, and many other factors. In the 1970s and 2010s, the average annual insulation accident rate of 110kV and above transformers was about 17.66 times, and malignant accidents and significant losses also occurred from time to time. Therefore, drawing on foreign experience, utilizing advanced online monitoring equipment, strengthening the state maintenance mode, and making power supply safer and more reliable. Not only are the other power facilities of the transformer the same, let alone the high-voltage lines on the tower.

Roadside transformers, power lines, and voltage levels are generally 10kV. When 10kV equipment is not powered off, the safe distance is 0.7m. When a single-phase grounding fault occurs outdoors (usually when the wire is placed on the ground or you watch the ground catch fire), do not approach the fault point within 8m. Generally, outdoor transformers are fenced off or hung high on utility poles, far beyond the safe distance, and will not pose any danger to pedestrians. In addition, the safety factor of power facilities is very high, and safety accidents will not occur unless intentional death occurs. Transformer fires, explosions, or very rare occurrences, paying attention to traffic safety is more important than just paying attention to it.
